Product Options in GleanQuote
Product Options allow you to customize how products appear and function in quote tables. These options can influence price and cost or just describe product attributes like size or color. You can even assign other products as options.

What Are Product Options?
Product options are additional fields added to products in your quotes. They can:
- Adjust pricing/cost dynamically
- Offer selectable attributes (e.g., Size: Small, Medium, Large)
- Represent fixed or nested products (e.g., a keyboard option for a laptop)
Option Sets
Option Sets allow you to define reusable option groups and apply them to multiple products.
Key Features:
- Create and manage sets under Products > Option Sets
- Apply sets to products manually or via bulk import
- To apply by bulk import, add a column labeled Option Sets and separate multiple sets with commas.
- Edits to an Option Set update all attached products automatically
- Combine multiple sets and regular options on one product
Adding Options to Products
Options are added directly in the product record using the New Option button.
Apply an Option Set to your product from the New Option dropdown.
Option Visibility Settings
Default visibility controls whether options are shown to customer on quotes:
- Show Options: Full option and pricing details are displayed on quote
- Hide Pricing: Show option details but hide prices
- Hide Options: Hide everything (good for behind-the-scenes price calcs)
You can override visibility for each individual option if needed.
Option Sections
Use Option Sections to organize many options under labeled headings.
- Add sections via the three-dot menu in the product options list
- Rearrange via drag-and-drop
- Option Sections appear in the quote editor UI but not on the final proposal output. Note: Option Sections are only used to give better organization to options in the quote editor to prevent a user from having to scroll vertically if there are many options.
Types of Options
GleanQuote has 12 different Option Types to allow users to set product specifications directly from their quote, no matter what kind of information you need to collect.
- Input (Integer, Decimal, Text, Date) - Allows the user to fill in product values as they're drafting a quote
- Checkbox - yes/no option
- Calculation
- Single Select Drop Downs
- Dropdown - Single selection from multiple values. This can be used for attributes (e.g., Size: Small, Medium, Large), duration/term (e.g., 1 year, 3 years), etc.
- Drop Down (Fixed Product) - Use existing products as selectable options
- Drop Down (Fixed Product, Separate) - Shows nested product as separate line item on quote
- Multi Select Drop Downs
- Multi Drop Down - Choose multiple values
- Multi Drop Down (Fixed Product) - Choose multiple existing products as options
- Multi Drop Down (Fixed Product, Separate) - Choose multiple existing products to be shown as separate line items on quote
Option Visibility Overrides
Override default visibility for individual options using the Visibility dropdown:
- Choose Use Default Visibility to stay consistent
- For fixed product, separate types:
- Hide Pricing/Options rolls prices into the parent line
- Display Price As: hidden prices will display as “–” on quotes by default, or you can replace with “Included”, “Inc.” etc.
Option Settings
Fine-tune each option with customizable settings.
-
Round QTY: Set decimal places for quantity fields.
- Note: This setting determines how many decimal places to round the QTY value to, not only displayed value, but also stored value. This setting is important for Formula based QTY that are decimals.
- Required Choice: Makes the option a required field in the quote editor.
- Indent Lines: Indent nested option lines in quote
- QTY Column: Display quantity input for options
- Component: Lock quantity changes to parent product (e.g., 4 wheels per 1 vehicle)
- Separate Price Lists: This only applies if you are using price lists. If toggle is ON, both the parent product price list and the option product price list will be applied to the option's price; if toggle is OFF, only parent product price list will be applied.
- Discount %: Offer discounts for fixed products
- Default: Pre-select a recommended option value
- Lock Selection/QTY/All: Prevent edits to specific option values on quote
Option Rules
Set conditions to determine whether an entire option or any option values are hidden or displayed depending on selections made for other options, proposal fields, account fields, parent product fields and opportunity fields. Each option can have an overall rule, and each option value can have its own rule.
Conditional rules show or hide options or values based on:
- Other option selections
- Proposal fields
- Account or opportunity fields
- Parent product properties
Create overall or per-value rules via the Create Rule option. Rules support AND/OR conditions and work like If/Then logic.
Sales Tips
Add internal-only sales tips to guide quoting teams:
- Displayed in the quote editor, not the customer-facing proposal
- Can include rich text, links, images, and attachments
Click the "i" icon in the editor to view the tip.
Option Values
Each option can include up to 50 values. Values can have:
- Quantity Offsets
- Discounts
- Cost & Price Offsets
- Model # Offset: Add a model # extension to reference option selections in a configured model number
Note: Configured model numbers will only be shown on quotes if "Configured Model Number Beneath Item Name" is turned on in quote settings.
Advanced Features:
- Use formulas for dynamic calculations
- Reference other option values, fields, and product data
- Default and lock individual values
- Rearranged with drag-and-drop or duplicated via the menu
Fixed vs Conditional Lists
Use Fixed Lists to define static product options.
Use Conditional Lists to generate options dynamically based on rules. Ideal for:
- Frequently updated product catalogs
- Context-based filtering (e.g., only show options if size = Large)
You can filter by:
- Any product field
- Values from other options entered in the quote editor
Final Notes
- Changes to product options apply to all draft proposals using those products
- Max: 50 options per product, 50 values per option
- Combine Option Sets, Sections, and Rules to deliver powerful quoting experiences
